Chaffoteaux & Maury boilers – the renewable energy scheme

Chaffoteaux & Maury boilers provide a range of products, including condensing gas boilers, water heaters, and cylinders. However, they also provide heat pumps and solar power heat systems.
Those who buy or who are thinking of buying a Chaffoteaux & Maury boiler in their renewable energy range might want to hear about the government’s plans to give substantial grants to homeowners. They want to encourage people to use renewable energy systems in the home, and so these grants will be awarded to those that need it most.

The grants cover everything from biomass boilers (wood pellets) to air and ground pumps, to solar panels. The scheme will cost the government £15 million, and it is hoped that this money will go to about 25,000 households. The government have some very specific rules to trying to get the grants, however. The house needs to be using oil or electric fires to keep homes heated, and are therefore spending the largest amounts of money in keeping their homes warm.
The grants will be given to households in England, Wales and in Scotland. However, northern Ireland has been left out of the grant scheme. This is because 70% of Northern Ireland’s homes are heated by oil, and therefore would make the whole scheme not economically viable. The grants can go up to £1250, although this is only for a ground source heat pump. If households want a biomass boiler they can get £950 for that, and £850 for an air source heat pump. The smallest amount that can be given is £300 for a solar thermal heating panel.
